Georgia has recently become a labour force exporter. While labour emigrants send remittances back to their families, this suggests that their labour potential and intellectual capacity are not being properly utilized in Georgia.
Exact figures are not available, but it is estimated that more than one million Georgians live abroad. Most Georgian emigrants live in Russia and other CIS countries, as well as the European Union.
