Russia kills 157 militants in Dagestan last year

According to information provided by the Russian Ministry of the Interior, there are twelve terrorist groups active in Dagestan.
The size of these groups is estimated at more than 300 people.
In 2011, the Russian government conducted 67 counter-terrorist operations, destroying several dozen camps, store houses, and trenches. During those raids, 511 firearms, 292 hand grenades, 107 handmade explosives, and a large amount of ammunition were found and confiscated.
The government reports that they killed 172 militants, detained 211, and accepted the surrender of eight more. In total, 49 terrorist acts were claimed to have been prevented.
