Russian-Azeri negotiations over a radar station located in Gabala have reached deadlock.
Azerbaijan has demanded a rent increase for the Russian station on their territory, from the current $7 million USD to $300 million USD.
Azerbaijan has been gradually increasing its asking price, according to Russian newspaper Kommersant, which reports that in December of last year Baku was demanding merely $150 million USD.
The Russian Defense Ministry believes that if they are unable to persuade the Azeri government to greatly reduce the cost of the lease, the station will be forced to move, causing problems for the Russian defense system.
