Kobuleti free zone progress slow

Last year, President Mikheil Saakashvili declared the Kobuleti, Adjara Black Sea coast a special tourism zone, where hospitality and infrastructure investors are granted tax-free status for a certain length of time.

Currently, three hotels have been built under the deal, with five other companies failing to fulfill necessary obligations. The Adjara government is optimistic and believes that later this year the construction of several new hotels will begin. They also hope that a successful summer season, more projects will start in Kobuleti.
