Georgian population still emigrating

By Messenger Staff
Wednesday, May 2
More than one million Georgians have emigrated since 1992, approximately one quarter of the current population.

Popular migration destinations include Russia, Ukraine, Greece, the US, Germany, Spain, Israel, and Turkey. The largest proportion of Georgian emigrants has moved to CIS countries, as they share the lingua franca of Russian.

More people appear to be leaving Georgia rather than returning.
