Registered businesses up, but may not survive the year

According to the National Statistics Office, the majority of newly-established businesses fail in the first year, Rezonansi reports.

Between January 1 and February 8, 2012, over a thousand new enterprises were registered, up 4% over last year.

Business experts call it a "process of living" and say it does not have a large impact on the economy.

Shot fired at Georgian Dream office

Georgian Dream Chief of Staff in Tsnori, Malkhaz Lazariashvili, said a shot was fired at coalition headquarters on April 29 at approximately 7pm.

Nodar Kutibashvili was in the office at the time of the shooting, and said the bullet narrowly missed hitting a man.

Lazaresihvili told Alia, “We [saw] that someone had fired at the headquarters. Of course, we informed the police. They came, saw the scene, reports were drawn up and we were told that [they would investigate] this issue... So, we will wait for investigation results,” he said.
