Five million GEL in damage from weekend flooding

As a result of heavy rain on the night of May 12-13, sever damaged was inflicted to private and public infrastructure across Georgia. Flooding hit Kakheti and Mtskheta-Mtianeti especially hard, damaging rural roads, bridges, and farmland. The ground floors of homes and businesses were also flooded.

Yesterday, Prime Minister Nika Gilauri convened a special session of the government where ministers were briefed about the situation. Damage has been estimated at five million GEL, which the government has decided to supply immediate in order to repair damaged infrastrucure and aid affected families. (MRDI)
