One of the countries that the current Georgian administration cites as an economic influence is Singapore. The Georgian Dream opposition coalition has stated that they disagree with the use of the Asian city-state as a model, and believe that a more European path is better.
Member of the Georgian Dream political council and Professor of Economics, Nodar Khaduri, said that Georgia already possesses the resources necessary to solve its education and healthcare problems. He noted that a major economic change the government could make would be to de-politicize the tax system, to ensure that businesses are not targeted because of the views of their owners. The Georgian Dream economic team has stated in the past that they will not increase taxes, but collect more revenue though the promotion of private business initiatives and by supporting small- and medium-size enterprises.
