Deputy Director of the Armenian Institute for the Caucasus Sergey Minasyan, stated recently that it is not realistic to restore the railway between Russia and Armenia via Abkhazia. This topic was discussed during the visit of Georgian Foreign Minister Grigol Vashadze in Armenia, though the negotiations yielded no results. A similar topic was discussed during official talks between Georgia’s previous President Shevardnadze and Armenian leadership. This railway was stopped in 1992-93.
