The figures of unemployed people in Georgia vary depending who is providing the figures. The official percent for 2011 was 15.1% of the population. However, analysts challenge these figures and suggest that the official statistics have been manipulated. Irakli Petriashvili,Trade Union boss suggests that the unemployment figures in Georgia come to around 70%. According to him, more than 22% receive less than survival-range minimum wages. He thinks that unemployment is increasing in number and particularly now, when many people are prosecuted because of their political orientation.
