Azerbaijan builds up its air force

Azerbaijan continues building up its military forces. Within the program, it dedicates great amount of attention to the development of military forces. Over the recent years, Azerbaijan purchased combat aircraft and 109 helicopters as well as 30 drones from different countries. According to data from the UN commission on conventional arms, Azerbaijan purchased military aircraft in Ukraine, Russia, Belarus and Georgia. In particular, Azerbaijan purchased from Georgia 13 aircraft, SU 25, 28 aircrafts from Ukraine, L 39 and Mig 29 from Belarus, 6 SU 29, as well as various types of helicopters from Ukraine and Russia. It is interesting to note the Russian position which supplies arms and ammunition to both rival sides– Azerbaijan and Armenia.
