According to Turkish sources Turkey exported more than $1 billion in arms in 2011, to at least 60 countries worldwide. The country plans to increase its production of arms and exports up to $2 billion in the near future. The biggest recipients of Turkish arms are Azerbaijan, Georgia, Bangladesh, Macedonia, Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Pakistan, Kazakhstan, Romania, Turkmenistan, Algeria, Iraq, as well as the UK and the USA. Apart from Turkey Georgia's biggest suppliers of weapons in recent years have been Israel, Russia, Ukraine and the Czech Republic. Since 2008 Russia imposed an embargo on sales of arms on Georgia. Officially western countries do not accept this embargo but still refrain from arm deals with Georgia.
