Construction of the Trans-Anatolian Gas Pipeline (TANAP) had been agreed upon by Turkey and Azerbaijan and no country including Russia can prevent it from being built, stated Azeri Minister for Industry and Energy Natig Aliyev. "This is a free market and there is competition. Here is our product which we are putting in the market." Aliyev stated. The decision to build the pipeline was signed on June 26, 2012. When completed in 2018 TANAP will transport gas from Azerbaijan through Georgia and Turkey and from there onwards to Europe and beyond. Azerbaijan will own 80% of TANAP and Turkey 20%.
