UNM complaints about possible pressure on GPB by Georgian Dream
United National Movement speaks about possible pressure placed on the Georgian Public Broadcaster after the parliamentary elections. Akaki Minashvili says the GPB has its mandate and interference in its activities is unacceptable.
"After the parliamentary elections, we heard that there are people who strive for the position of the GPB chairperson and the supervisory board. This is a kind of pressure on the free media. There is a law, there is a supervisory board with its mandate and therefore, everything must happen in the frames of the law. That`s why, the parliamentary elections should not cause changes in the board, neither should it cause the change of the director general," Minashvili said.
Candidate for the parliamentary Chair, Davit Usupashvili, from Georgian Dream coalition, has commented on the complaints of the UNM. Davit Usupashvili said that regardless of any international monitoring or agitation, the media should be unbiased and cover the events impartially.
