Darielhes construction to be revised
The Court of Appeal finished researching the evidence on the legality of the construction of Darielhes, Liberali reports. According to Green Alternative the order of Former Minister of Environment about building a hydro-energy power station in Kazbegi National Park was illegal.
“The minister and government were aware of the violations, but still signed the agreement to build a hydro-energy plant on the protected territory with two times more power. It turns out that the ministry advocates for the illegal decision of the previous government,” said coordinator of Green Alternative, Irakli Macharashvili.
Funding for construction was stopped and the construction was halted. Whether the Court of Appeals will leave the decision of the primary court, or annul the permission will be unveiled on December 19.
Our partners knew that we did not have democracy in the country says Nona Gaprindashvili
Nona Gaprindahsvili, a former world champion in chess and one of the leaders of the public assembly, said in her interview with newspaper Akhali Taoba that Georgia’s Western friends knew that Saakashvili was not a democrat but still called him “the beacon of democracy.”
Gaprindashvili said that unfortunately the current leadership has received bad heritage. She said that the United National Movement (UNM) is the “false opposition.” “For nine years they (UNM) were fighting against their people and not for their welfare,” Gaprindashvili said, confident that the UNM has spent huge money for lobbyist companies.
She said the lobbyist companies knew about the wrong doing of the UNM but do not want to admit their “criminal regime.”
