Georgia's Statistical Department informs that the export of hazelnuts form Georgia has decreased in 2012 compared with the previous year. The analysts suggest that the major reason for such a decrease is bad weather, as it deteriorated the quality of the product. This has resulted in decreasing of the price and therefore, exports as well. The major exporting area for Georgian hazelnuts is the Samegrelo region as well as the Gali region now under the control of separatist Abkhazians and some areas in the western Black Seaside coast.
