During the Soviet period there was an oil refinery in Batumi which became obsolete and stopped functioning. However, there are suggestions to construct oil refinery in Georgia which will eventually stabilize fuel prices in the country and will thus bring a relief to the population. Rezonansi informs that specialists suggest constructing two refineries: one in the east and another in west Georgia. These factories will process enough oil to supply the country with the required fuel. The refinery could produce petrol, diesel, some lubricants and other products.
