The Russian research institution–the Levada Centre, carried out polling in December 2012 which revealed that the nationalistic mood in the country is quite solid and it is often targeted against the Caucasus and people from this region. It was revealed that the slogan Russia for Russians and Enough to Feed the Caucasians and similar expressions are very popular. There is also a position in Russia that all illegal immigrants should leave Russian territory. Around 1/3 those interviewed believe that the possibility of violent confrontation exists in Russia based on ethnic grounds. Approximately the same amount negatively responded to this question.
