Prime Minister Bidzina Ivanishvili said on March 14 that his government has the political will to revive Georgian railways in Abkhazian territory. However, the PM mentioned that his government is cautiously studying the issue because this should be solved together with the problems connected with Russia and its occupied territories so that the process can develop in a beneficial way for Georgia.
Ivanishvili had to express his opinion because a couple of days earlier the Armenian and Russian presidents expressed their countries' interest in the restoration of these links. The benefits Georgia is expecting from this issue include steps in restoration of the country’s territorial integrity. However, Russia is not prepared to make any concessions in this direction.
