American Friendship Club recalls Newtown tragedy

On March 13 the American Friendship Club dedicated an event to the tragedy that happened at the Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Connecticut on December 14, 2012.
Opening the event, President of the American Friendship Club, Ilia Zukakishvili, expressed his gratitude to the guests for joining the event. He said this event was scheduled just after the tragedy had happened in Newtown.
“The members of American Friendship Club then gathered at the US Embassy to express our solidarity towards the US people,” Zukakishvili said.
Georgian painter Gia Bughadze created two canvases and composer and performer Zura Khutsishvili produced a musical composition made especially for the event commemorating the tragedy.
Students and guests gathered at Tbilisi Classic School Conference Hall, discussed the topic “Sympathy and Empathy’’ aimed at gaining further knowledge about these two issues. Psychologist Tamar Darsavelidze was the moderator of the discussion. Representatives of the US Embassy also attended the event.
