14% of Georgian youth asked by the Gallup pollsters answered that they want to leave the country for good. The research was carried out in all the former Soviet Union countries and youth of 15 and up were asked. The highest– 40% of those wishing to leave the country were received in Armenia, followed by Moldova – 32% and Ukraine – 21%. There are different explanations for this. Some think of leaving their country to have a better life abroad; some consider this move to secure their children’s future; some think of getting better jobs. However, around 12% do not exactly know why they want to leave. It is sad that the youth of the country has little hope if at all to realize themselves in their homeland.
