For several years, a boom in the Georgian sheep-breeding segment of agriculture was noticeable. In 2008, the price for sheep was around 50 GEL, but starting in 2009 the buyers from Israel, some Arab countries and Iran appeared in Georgia and more and more sheep were sold in different Middle East countries. The price for a sheep has almost tripled. So this segment became profitable. People involved in sheep-breeding received profit, but problems remain, like the creation of special farms and the provision of space for grazing sheep. Therefore bigger places for pasture are needed. It is also necessary to organize the facilities for breeding sheep in winter.
