According to the National Statistics Office of Georgia, the foreign trade turnover in Georgia in the first quarter of the year is $2.14 billion USD, which is slightly less than the same period last year. However, it should be mentioned that export parameters have increased. As a result of the increase in export and the decrease of import, the negative balance has decreased, which is a positive fact. The largest item for export is the re-export of automobiles. The re-export of auto-mobiles accounts for 25% of total export of the country. 12% of the total export is ferroalloys, followed by fertilizers – which make up 6% of export. It should be also mentioned that an increase of export is detected in the direction of the CIS countries. Analysts believe that the figures will be decisive in the second half of this year.
