Georgia seen through the eyes of a Diplomat

On the occasion of the 95th anniversary of the Independence of Georgia, the American Friendship Club held a gala reception. Guests had a chance to view the photos of the foreign diplomats accredited in Georgia taken in different regions of the country. The diplomats from the embassies of the United States, Brazil, Bulgaria, China, Latvia, Poland, Romania, Germany, South Africa, France, Japan, Israel, the European Monitoring Mission and the Peace Corps participated in the exhibition. The Georgian State Academic Dance Company Erisioni performed a couple of Georgian dances.
“Today we can view the photos taken by foreign diplomats and Georgia’s friends which are dedicated to Georgia’s Independence Day and to the diplomatic relations between Georgia and its partner countries. The American Friendship Club congratulates every Georgian on this national day. The echoes of the glorious past are heard on this special day and everyone is happy. This is one of the most important holidays and the day that has been longed for, for centuries by many patriots. Georgia is a sovereign country,” declared Ilia Zukakishvili, President of the American Friendship Club.
The exhibition revealed the five best photos as the winners.
The first prize was given to Ray Cooper from the European Monitoring Mission, the second prize was given to Katje McCabe from the Embassy of the United States of America, the third prize went to Maciej Chrzanowski from the Embassy of Poland, the fourth prize was shared by Sandra Vazquez from the US embassy and Birute Pabirze from the Embassy of Lithuania. The fifth prize went to Lein from the Embassy of France.
The American Friendship Club will continue this project next year.
