During the parliamentary session on June 29 a new amendment was received to the law which stops selling of Georgian agricultural lands to foreigners either physical or legal entities until the end of 2014. The exact statistical data about the lands already purchased by foreigners is not available, but approximately around 30 000 hectares of land which is around 4% of the total agricultural lands in Georgia have been sold. The time suggested by the Parliament should be used for finding the best solution on the one hand to create an attractive investment plan and on the other hand – to protect the national interests.
