Baku-Tbilisi-Kars railway construction underway

Construction of the Baku-Tbilisi-Kars railway has reached the active phase. Irakli Tzulaia, who is overseeing the construction of the Georgian segment of the railway, stated that construction is taking place much more rapidly than before. This contradicts President Saakashvili's claims that construction had almost halted. Tzulaia described Saakashvili’s remarks as "irresponsible" and "discrediting towards Georgia’s international image". "The Baku-Tbilisi-Kars railway is not being built by one political party-it is an issue of national importance and should not be used as a political pawn." Tzulaia said.
