The Russian media reports there are jams in the Zemo Larsi checkpoint at the Russia-Georgia border. Although the checkpoint is busy 24 hours a day, up to 1,500 cars were in line from the Russian side in both directions.
As Russian customs officials explained, this is due to the increased number of tourists from Russia and transit cars from Armenia to Russia.
There are more difficulties on the Russian side of the border. Georgian border customs meanwhile are treating passengers in both directions in a more efficient manner.
