Turkey imposes temporary concessions on transport from Georgia

Transit duties will not be required until the completion of audits on vehicles such as closed vans passing in transit through Turkey's territory with provisional registration marks, the official website of Georgia's Ministry of Economy reported on Tuesday.

The relevant information was given to the Georgian side by Turkey's embassy in Georgia.

The Ministry of Transport, Maritime Affairs and Communication of Turkey launched an audit on transit duties on Georgia's "PANEL VAN" vehicles (600 euro for the passage of an empty vehicle and 1,200 euro for the passage of the loaded transport) imposed since July 1, 2013, on the basis of request by Georgia's Ministry of Economy.

"In this regard, a transit duty will not be required until the completion of work on customs checkpoints. The Georgian Minister of Economy personally asked the Turkish Minister of Transport, Maritime Affairs and Communication about re-deferral of the duty. This duty for Georgia was deferred until July, 2013. Additional information will be provided about the new date of deferral," the department stated. (Trend)
