Georgian Minister of Agriculture, Shalva Pipia, thinks that the Georgian wines’ breakthrough to the Russian market is the most important issue for the ministry at present. Apart from wines, other strong drinks (brandy) and mineral waters have also re-entered the Russian market. Since re-opening the Russian market Georgia has already exported around 2 million bottles of alcohol and thus Russia appeared fourth in the list of the countries where Georgia exports its beverages after Ukraine, (consuming 43% of Georgian alcohol export) Kazakhstan and Belarus.
