According to the methodology adopted by Georgia in 1996, the existing minimum for an adult male is 150 GEL. However, analysts suggest that this methodology needs to be considerably improved as 18 years have passed since its adoption, prices on products have changed and mostly increased, thus the existing minimum would be around 260 GEL. The Georgian Dream coalition promised to increase the norms of the existing minimum for the Georgian population. Of course certain items like the price for natural gas, electricity, and some other utilities are lower than in Europe but unemployment creates problems for Georgian people. Besides there are certain items that are not luxurious products anymore; for instance, mobile phones have become a part of people’s daily lives.
