During the election campaign for parliamentary elections in 2012, the Georgian Dream coalition promised to increase the pensions for retired people up to living minimum. From September, Georgian pensioners will receive GEL 150 per month when the living minimum is GEL 145. So the coalition fulfilled its promise. However, Minister of Finance, Nodar Khaduri, admits that the living minimum is not realistic and it requires re-calculation. Thus, according to the minister, experts and specialists are being mobilized and intensive work is underway to establish new figures for the living minimum which will correspond to the reality.
