General, Gigi Kalandadze, has sued Minister of Justice of Georgia, Thea Tsulukiani and the Minister of Defense of Georgia, Irakli Alasania.
During the press conference held at the Prime-Time press club on August 26, Kalandadze stressed that Tsulikiani and Alasania tarnished the image of Davit Aghmasheneli, the National Defense Academy of Georgia (NDA), and because of this, the number of the college applicants has decreased three times from that period.
“I sued Tsulukiani and Alasania. Their speeches and statements have generally exceeded all limits. Alasania blamed me as if I had appropriated 500,000 GEL. As for Tsulukiani, she accused me of pressuring witnesses in the Samegrelo region. Their discriminative actions affected NDA, stated Kalandadze.
Kalandadze’s suit is about the humiliation of dignity and honor and he demands public apologies.
Tsulukiani made a comment about this at a conference on August 27. The minister advised Kalandadze to think more about his tragic destiny as a soldier and how his name will be delivered to the new generations.
“As for the accusations towards me, I will wait for the court’s decision calmly,” Tsulukiani said.
Kalandadze was charged in abusing his power in two episodes of the crime - violence and the abuse of the victim’s personal dignity and also illegal deprivation of freedom committed by a group, using power, dangerous for life and health.
After releasing Kalandadze from detention, Tsulukiani and Alasania made statements which became the reason for the lawsuit. Tsulukiani said that she had information that Kalandadze was trying to put pressure on witnesses. As for Alasania, he stated, “the person who from the government budget will take half a million GEL from the budget, the fund for which, are purposed for soldiers’ nourishment, for armament and will buy houses for them, in my opinion, doesn’t deserve wearing a full-dress coat,” said the minister.
