This year's citrus harvest in Georgia

The citrus harvest in Georgia is expected to exceed 70,000 tons this year. There is optimism about selling citrus fruits to Russia since the embargo against Georgian agricultural products was lifted. The Ministry of Agriculture has promised to help farmers by facilitating the process of harvesting and storing citrus fruits. Georgian tangerines, oranges and lemons are exported not just to Russia but also to Belarus, Ukraine, Azerbaijan and Kazakhstan. During the Soviet period Georgia was the primary citrus producing republic of the U.S.S.R.
