The vintage in Kakheti, the main grape-producing region of Georgia, is successfully underway. Although the rain and flood affected the region, over 70% of the grape harvest has been gathered, including different sorts of grape such as Saperavi, Rkatsiteli and Kahuri Mtsvane. More than 55,000 tons of grapes have been accumulated in the wineries. Up to 70 private companies are involved in the process and the state interference is very little. There are only two state companies Akura and Gruzwinprom participating in the process receiving about 10% of the grape harvest. The vintage will last for a couple of weeks more.
