Precise data show 1 % growth in Georgia’s foreign trades

Georgia’s foreign trade turnover in January-October 2013 was USD 8 591 million, according to precise data from Georgian National Statistics Department (Geostat).
This is one percent more than in the same period last year.
The export was USD 2 306 million – 16 percent more than last year – and the import USD 6 285 million, which is four percent less than last year.
There was a negative trade balance in the first ten months of 2013 numbering USD 3 979. This is 46 percent of the foreign trade turnover.
Foreign trade turnover with EU countries was USD 2 306 million, one percent less than last year. Trade turnover with the countries in the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) was USD 2 954 million; ten percent more than same period last year.
Georgia’s top trade partners in the first ten months of 2013 are Turkey with USD 1 218 million, Azerbaijan with USD 1 063 million and Ukraine USD 629 million. Georgia’s trade turnover with these countries was 66 percent of the total foreign trade turnover.
The number one export product remains used cars, whose total worth was USD 569 million, accounting for 25 percent of all export. Second was ferroalloys with USD 193 million and 8 percent of the export, and copper ores and concentrates group USD 118 million, 5 percent of all export.
Top imported products are still oil and oil products – USD 746 million, 12 percent of import, used cars – USD 575 million, 9 percent of import and medicines – USD 220 million, 4 percent of import. (Democracy & Freedom Watch)
