Population still trusts American dollar

During most of the country’s transitional period, the USD was the domineering currency, as the population does not trust the local currency. While paying salaries, taxes, and carrying out other financial operations, the local currency is usually used, whereas for savings, the USD is the preference.
There is around 9.4 billion GEL in deposits in Georgian banks, but out of this amount, around 60% is in a foreign currency. (The Messenger)
