Salaries of state employees to increase

High-level state employees such as ministers, judges and the president started receiving higher salaries since 2013. The ministers’ salaries have more than doubled and have reached the margin of 7,000 GEL/month or sometimes even more. The president’s salary has increased by nearly the same proportion.

Analysts have observed the tendency of increasing salaries and benefits for high-level officials around the country. At the same time, the private sector, in particular small and medium-sized businesses, have serious problems. The government has not yet made any radical steps to improve the economic situation in this direction. (The Messenger)
