Georgia’s previous administration headed by Mikheil Saakashvili spent huge amounts of money for promoting the country’s tourism potential. The exact amount is not available. However, the current tourism administration of the country plans to spend almost 9 million GEL for the country’s marketing.
More than 3 million GEL was spent for this purpose in 2013. Almost half a million GEL was spent to organize special media tours and invite tour operators to visit the country. Almost one million GEL was spent on Georgia’s participation in international tourism fairs. More than 50 video clips and articles have been released worldwide.
Analysts think that close cooperation between state officials and tourism businesses should be established to coordinate the promotion of Georgia. Further marketing will benefit the country’s business and tourism sectors.
