EU finances de-mining of Turkish-Armenian border

The Turkish government has decided to de-mine its border with Armenia. The country’s Ministry of Internal Affairs and Military Command are involved in these activities. However, the European Union pays ? of the total expenses. Instead of mines, there will be installed modern systems of detecting border violations.

It is said in Turkey that the issue of opening the border with Armenia depends on the latter itself and this will take a place only in case if Armenia de-occupies the territories of Azerbaijan it is illegally holding now.
