In 2012-2013 there were cases where the import of eggs in the country damaged its local production. Currently, the situation has improved and the government has introduced various regulations, which has assisted local production. Now eggs produced in Georgia satisfy 95% of the local demand.
It has become obligatory to mark each egg with the date of production so that consumers are able to buy fresh products. Moreover, the local companies involved in egg production are now considering the possibility of exporting eggs.
