According to the unofficial data, the overwhelming majority of labor migrants from Georgia to the US are females. Most of them are working in the United States illegally, engaged as guides, care takers or baby-sitters, and servants. Again, unofficially, the greatest number of Georgians is settled in New York and New Jersey.
Some suggest that there are around 100,000 Georgians in the US. Most of them have left their own families in Georgia, who survive through the money their relatives send them from the US.
Official Tbilisi cannot control their number or whereabouts, as they are working illegally and mostly do not want to give any information about them such as address, telephone number, working place, etc.
