Wounded Soldiers Travel to US to Participate in Paralympics

Wounded Georgian soldiers traveled to the US to participate in the Paralympics World Championship. Chief of General Staff of the GAF, Major-General Vakhtang Kapanadze, his Deputy Colonel Roman Jokhadze and U.S. Marine Attache LTC Richard Brady, saw the military off at Tbilisi International Airport and wished them success.

“We hope that our military will win the championship and receive some medals. Thus, they are already winners as they overcame all difficulties they had faced to. The most important is that they are rehabilitated and good examples for others,” said Major-General Vakhtang Kapanadze.

The soldiers wounded fighting for Georgia’s territorial integrity and in the ISAF mission trained intensively for their participation in the Paralympics World Championship. They have prepared in swimming, shooting and archery. As a result of the tournament, 13 of the best military personnel were selected for the Paralympics Championship.

World tournament will be held in San-Diego, California, on March 3-13. Soldiers injured in the various conflicts throughout the world will be engaged in the Para-Olympic games.
