Minister of Defence acquainted with rehabilitation process of wounded soldiers
Thursday, May 1
Minister of Defence of Georgia paid a working visit to the United States. First Irakli Alasania arrived in the San Diego Peter Harsch Prosthetics Clinic to see the Georgian soldiers wounded in the 2008 August military conflict and the ISAF mission. The soldiers personally informed the minister about their rehabilitation process. Irakli Alasania also talked with doctors about the prosthetics course.
“Our soldiers are the main priority for the Defence Ministry and the whole government – especially those who sacrificed their health and lives for the welfare of the country. We have seen our warriors in San Diego who are going through a prosthetics and rehabilitation course. I am glad that they have easily adapted to the new prostheses. They will come back to the motherland in the nearest future and continue serving in the GAF. I would like to thank our guys on behalf of all of Georgia for their devoted service and their willingness to continue their activities in the GAF,” said Minister of Defence Irakli Alasania.
Deputy Minister of Defence Vako Avaliani and Head of Medical Department LTC Medea Betashvili also visited the Peter Harsch Prosthetics Clinic.
In the clinic, the mechanic prostheses of the soldiers are being replaced by bio-micro prostheses. The soldiers are going through special exercises to adjust to them and are learning how to use them. Thanks to the cutting-edge prostheses, the soldiers will be able to easily move along a difficult terrain and be more active. After returning to Georgia, all the servicemen will come back to their units and continue service there.
