The price of homemade wide has gone up 30-50%. If an average 1 liter bottle of wine costs 4-5 GEL, it is now around 15 GEL. Economists explain this by Russia’s increasing demand on Georgian wine. Demand for Georgian wines, facilitated the growth of wine plantations in the wine growing districts of Georgia.
However, there is another risk that exists. The Russian market is based on the political relations between the two countries. This market could be closed at any time. Thus, Georgian wine producers are continuing their efforts to expand into new markets.
