The programme Produce in Georgia has been launched under the Ministries of Agriculture and Economy. It encourages support for entrepreneurship, helping businesspersons establish new enterprises.
The key point of the initiative is the production of such products that are being imported from abroad and are needed in Georgia, when the country has a capacity to produce them. For instance: production of paper, building materials, textile and chemicals, processing timber. Many other agricultural products are imported as well.
Overall, 46 million GEL was allocated for the project including 30% for agricultural and 16% for industry. The former ruling team is skeptical over the implementation of the project. They say that it will be a failure and money will be spent in vain.
