The Turkish company TPAO increased its share in the Shah-Denis project. Recently, it purchased 10% share of Total Azerbaijan. The amount of the deal is confidential. The contract on constructing and launching the Shah-Denis project started in 1996. Natural gas from this source goes to Turkey through the Baku-Tbilisi- Erzerum natural gas pipeline. Recent moves of different companies are targeted at increasing further exploration and exploitation of Azerbaijan’s potential of providing Europe with natural gas.
