Since the new government took office, it has started supporting farmers to cultivate their lands. In autumn 2013 and spring 2014, 412,000 hectares of lands were cultivated. That is more than was cultivated in previous years. New programs in agriculture adopted by the government facilitated positive moves in this sphere. Georgian farmers mostly grow wheat. Slowly but steadily the area of land plots is growing. Georgia also grows maize, as well as sunflower, potatoes and various vegetables.
