Russia will provide Armenia with credit for nuclear power station

Russia is ready to provide Armenia with $300 million credit for the rehabilitation of the Mestamor nuclear power station, so that it can function for the next 12 years. It is planned to start this rehabilitation work in September of 2014. The nuclear power station will be temporarily stopped to carry out the necessary steps. As for the construction of the new nuclear power station according to the Armenian energy minister Ervand Zakharian $5.5 billion will be required. Some portion of this amount will be provided by Moscow, and the rest will be accumulated by Armenia while negotiating with other countries. Construction of the new nuclear power station is planned to start in 2018-2019.
