Modern Equipment Granted to Social Rehabilitation Center

Deputy Minister of Defence of Georgia Varlam Avaliani, Adviser to the Defence Minister Paata Patiashvili and Head of the Medical Department LTC Medea Betashvili visited the Social Rehabilitation Center for the disabled people. Representatives of the Georgian Defence Ministry were accompanied by Peter Harsch, Head of Peter Harsch Prosthetics Corporation in San Diego and Christopher Russell and Christopher Welch from the ODC (Office for Defence Cooperation).
The visitors viewed the modern training equipment for rehabilitation. The gym apparatus were transferred to the Rehabilitation Center by the ODC in the framework of the "Wounded Warrior Project" of the U.S. Embassy in Georgia. Several pieces of rehabilitation equipment are designated for the wounded military personnel during the August War 2008 and international missions. Along with the military personnel, civilians will be also treated on an outpatient basis.
The patients will be treated by the prosthetic-orthopedic specialists who had undergone training in the modern Otto Bock type technologies in Peter Harsch Prosthetics in San Diego, California with the support of the Georgian Ministry of Defence.
The visitors monitored the infrastructure of the Social Rehabilitation Center and observed the working process of the clinic. Representatives of the Defence Ministry discussed the future plans with the employees of the Social Rehabilitation Center. The Center will be fully equipped with the modern apparatus in the future.
