Rehabilitation of main gas pipeline section continued in Georgia

Friday, August 8
The rehabilitation of 23-kilometer section of Zestaponi - Kutaisi (Western Georgia) gas pipeline is being continued.

Some 81 percent of the work had already been completed so far, the Georgian Oil and Gas Corporation told Trend.

The rehabilitation work was due to the necessity of replacing damaged pipes, as well as distressed river crossings and ravines.

The work in Zestaponi - Kutaisi section is carried out within the fourth phase of the rehabilitation project of East-West gas pipeline and is funded by the USAID.

The cost of rehabilitation of Zestaponi - Kutaisi amounts to nearly $4,497 million. The procurement of the necessary pipes and other materials has been made in the framework of the tender contract in early 2014.

The work started in spring and is carried out by the Georgian "Sakmilsadenmsheni" company. The completion of the work is scheduled for October, 2014. (trend.az)
